Summary
The impact of mass media on the behavior of a child
- Technology is present in every aspect of our lives, but for children it is most seen in their television programs or any other streaming service. It is the medium with the greatest socialization effect. Televisions are not interactive, so the child watching may feel like they are communicating but they are not. The average child watches almost three hours of television daily, so their development time is lost on this. It is important to control this exposure as parents. Reduce the time, and watch what they are watching. We need to make sure that their programs are safe for them
- Some things children learn from the multimedia are beneficial. They learn about society, occupations, social institutions, a variety of language but they also learn things that are bad for them. From video games, cartoons, news and drama, children are exposed to scary themes that may affect them badly.
The need for preschool education including the aims of objectives of preschool education
- Children are curious at a young age, and eager to learn. Preschool education is aimed to help the child adapt to new surroundings while also make the child independent as well as the following:
- Create socializing skills.
- Help the child develop an enthusiasm for learning.
- Promote holistic development within a child.
- Help the kids learn to respect.
- Develop sharing and teamwork.
- These are all important skills for the later stages of life, so it is important as teachers to understand these aims and apply them to our methods in order to help our kids effectively.
The role of parent and teacher in educating the child during early years
- Parents are the first role model. Children behave, react to and copy the actions of their parents. If the parents give the child proper support and are responsive and understanding, children are able to learn important skills that help them be positive, healthy and a good learner.
- When preschool education begins, children are put into an environment without their parents for the first time. But a parent will still play a major role in their development. Parents who actively participate in their child’s education will help a child learn more effectively. It gives them confidence, and happiness.
- Parents who engage with their child this way also learns their behavior, their interests and what parts of education they are weaker at or stronger at. This also builds communication between the child and the parent.
- Teachers are challenged to nurture children’s learning and prepare them for the later stages of life. A teacher builds responsibility and independence. In school, they are the first source of social skills.
- Preschool teaching is very challenging. You can rarely sit down, and you always need to be alert. This is mentally and physically tiring. However, seeing children develop is very rewarding.
- The first thing a teacher must do is plan and prepare the environment for learning. When children arrive, you become a facilitator and help children experience success and learn according to their needs. A teacher should also observe their students during this time, and use these observations to help prepare for the next classes.
- Teachers will teach cooperation and politeness. Through examples, they will teach various social skills and emotions. It is amazing how children are affected by our own behavior.
child right in Maldives
- The convention of the rights of the child was signed by the Maldives in 1991, and they were one of the first countries to do so. This led to the creation of family and juvenile courts to better address their legal issues. A national child protection policy was also implemented at atoll and national levels.
- However, many children are not given these protections. The geographic dispersion of the country means the resources are greatly located at the capital, and children from further atolls are sometimes forced to travel to the capital alone. This may prompt them into crime and drug abuse.
- UNICEF is coordinating with the local school system, health providers, police force, social services and government to give children more support, and they are focusing on expanding across the country instead of just in the capital.
- UNICEF has also provided a hotline “Ahan” which helps children report abuse through a smartphone application. It also helps people gain information about resources.
- UNICEF promotes the education of parents and caregivers to increase children’s safety in order to ensure communities are aware of the mechanisms of reporting child abuse and promoting the rights of children at home and in the classroom.
